Finding shorts that are the perfect fit can be a little daunting at times to say the least. “Are these too short?” “Too tight?” or “Will I actually wear these?” are just a few questions that cross our minds as we fight the crowds at the mall to find the best shorts for the season. In your Summer wardrobe, it’s important to have at least one go-to jean pair, casual wear, and another for nicer occasions that can be dressed up. Next time you’re at the mall frantically trying on endless pairs of shorts that just don’t make the cut, keep in mind these guidelines and styles that are flattering and stylish for your perfect fit.
Our first rule in our short shopping journey is to make sure you never buy anything that’s too short. Ask yourself the question, “Would my grandmother approve?” or “What would my boyfriend’s mother say?” An appropriate length all depends on your height and body type; however, if you can see your cheeks then toss them out the dressing room ASAP!
Stripes are super summer-y and perfect for a casual look with sandals and a fab tee or tank. Easy, but put-together for the perfect summer look that beats the heat.

A flirty, ruffled short can go one of two ways: casual or more on the nicer end, depending on the event. Fabric content can play a role.. If the fabric is more on the cotton or linen side, then they are perfect for daytime. A thicker fabric or chiffon silky feel can be more for evening and dressed up with a heel or wedge. This ruffled short style is good for anyone with hips and accentuates your legs, lengthening them with the side ruffle.

Shorts with a tie are great for nice Summer dinners or parties. The tie around the waist is flattering while making your torso look longer and thinner.

Jean shorts are a girl’s go-to and basically all we live in for our casual summer needs. Finding the perfect jean pair is the hardest to come by, and once you find the right pair, don’t pass them up! It takes a bit of trying on to find some that aren’t too short or big in the waist and hug your body in an appropriate way. Having some with holes and then without is also important because they definitely are two different go-to looks. Jean shorts with holes can give off a more casual vibe than a pair without.

As we all know, gingham is the Summer trend. Treat yourself to a “fun” pair of shorts that make a statement. Gingham is great because you can pair it with so many different style tops. From an off-the-shoulder blouse or a black tank and jean jacket, to a graphic tee, gingham is stylish and super chic.

Last but not least, a white pair of shorts is a summer must-have. For all the white ensemble outfits we love to wear this season, the perfect pair of white shorts is a key piece to have in your closet. Our number one rule to buying white shorts is the no-see through rule! Make sure the fabric is thick enough or lined (or too tight) for the perfectly chic fit.
