When it comes to making your bedroom look more expensive and luxurious, there isn’t anyone who is much more of an expert than KF. Our EIC Kathy Fielder has spent time designing some of the most gorgeous, statement-making rooms, and she knows picking out accents and decor that make a statement for an affordable price can be an art form itself. Styling out a nightstand with accessories that speak volumes or a corner with an accent chair and table can go a long way to create a luxe feel in the room without breaking your budget. Here at KF this week, we are focused on making a huge impact with pieces that don’t cost you a fortune.
One major designer insider tip to create the perfect bedroom is a perfectly styled bed. Expertly layering pillows is one way to update your bedroom instantly. When you group pillows with a little finesse, you give the illusion that your bedding is more “expensive” and luxe looking. Adding a gorgeous, luxe throw adds to the dimension and is a perfect finishing touch.

Artwork and photography is something that you can definitely rack up on; however, if you have a blank wall, frame two or three prints (depending on the size of the wall) with stock frames or have them framed at your local framer. Instead of doing a collage of prints and photos, do only one or two for more impact and a more clean, minimalistic feel. Tip ~ find an immerging local artist that speaks to you and work with them to create something unique and special.

Styling a nightstand can be tricky, but by using key pieces you can create a luxurious looking table. Less is more! Choose a gorgeous bowl for your jewelry and style with a candle or a vase full of roses or peonies. Bookends with your favorite reads make it personal and keep you organized. Don’t clutter your nightstand with items you don’t need. Pick a nightstand with a drawer to store all the clutter. Be picky ~ choose favorite and necessary items worth being there in sight to refine your bedroom space. This is a good rule of thumb when decorating any space.

Find a space in your room for an accent chair. Functional and fabulous, a flea market find can be dressed up into the showstopper in your space. Drape a faux fur blanket or place a decorative pillow in the chair for an elevated look. A statement chair in your room creates the illusion of more space, while giving off a more luxurious vibe, and is an incredibly functional piece as well.

Mixing neutrals is a great way to elevate and refine a more luxe look in a bedroom. By mixing neutrals, you’re bringing in more dimension, style, and texture. Add a killer accent rug to your bedroom full of neutrals and nudes to set the tone.
